FIRST ROBOTICS TEAM 365 PRESENTS NEW AWARD

How do you honor two men known for their personal integrity and commitment to others? And– How do you keep it a secret when one of them is a gifted communicator who leads the organization?

At last May’s  2014-2015 MOE FRC’s Annual Picnic, the wife and children of one of MOEs founding mentors, John Larock did just that—and more. For his milestone birthday, they unveiled a new annual student award in memory of John’s father, the John Anthony Larock, Sr. Memorial Award.

The award is intended to acknowledge and celebrate one outstanding student who demonstrates values attributed to Mr. Larock, Sr. –a strong work ethic and gracious professionalism.

In conjunction with the board and a selected group of mentors, the 2014-2015 award was presented to an active and dedicated member of the MOE team, Haley Chambers, a junior at A.I. DuPont High School.  Haley was recognized for her tireless work to promote the team both as an ambassador and as a student member. Mentors were unanimous in their choice of Haley who is known for her kindness and humility, as well as her dedication and volunteerism.

In establishing the award, Mrs. Larock noted that while any student is eligible to win the award, they cannot win two years in a row.  Also, if mentors determine that there is not a suitable candidate, the award might not be presented that year.  A plaque will be engraved listing each year’s winner — starting with Haley. In addition, the winners receive a certificate and cash award. Congratulations, Haley!
